"You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him." - Matthew 24:44
In Matthew chapters 24 and 25 Jesus shared four parables that emphasize the importance of being ready when He comes again, and in each story the Christians who were ready were obedient servants, while the Christians left behind with the unbelievers were not. So, what set the good servants apart? Love! They loved Jesus enough to obey him. Jesus said:
"Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them. Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching." - John 14:21, 23-24
On the other hand, the wicked servants did not love Jesus enough to obey His commands, so Jesus didn’t even know them:
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ - Matthew 7:21-23
So, whether people die before Jesus comes again, or are alive at the rapture, those who don't prove their love for Jesus by obeying His commands and teachings are not ready to meet Him in the air, or anywhere; and they never will be. In fact, the Book of Revelation says:
"The smoke of their torment will rise forever." - Revelation 14:11
So, what about you! Do you know the real Jesus? Do you love Him? Are you serving Him by obediently following His commands? Are you ready? Are you sure?
